Founded by Mr. Ahmed and Mr. Yasin, the Center Responds to Growing Educational Needs in the Community
Columbus, Ohio β Somali educators have officially launched Ilmiyo Tutoring, a new academic support center dedicated to strengthening educational outcomes for Somali students in the city.
Located inside Saraga Mall, Ilmiyo Tutoring was established in response to a growing demand from Somali parents seeking structured, culturally aware academic support for their children.
For many families in Columbus, access to tutoring that understands both the American education system and the cultural background of Somali students has been limited. Ilmiyo Tutoring aims to bridge that gap by providing personalized instruction, homework assistance, subject-specific tutoring, and consistent academic progress monitoring.
The center focuses on building confidence, improving academic performance, and creating a supportive learning environment where students can thrive.
According to the founders, Mr. Ahmed and Mr. Yasin, the mission of Ilmiyo Tutoring is clear:
βTo build a generation of academically strong, confident, and future-ready Somali youth who are equipped to succeed in school and beyond.β
They emphasize that the academy is not only about improving grades, but about mentorship, discipline, leadership development, and long-term educational success.
Community members say the opening of Ilmiyo Tutoring reflects a broader commitment to investing in the future of Somali youth in Columbus. Parents interested in learning more about enrollment and programs are encouraged to visit the center at Saraga Mall for additional information.
SPTV will continue to highlight initiatives that promote education, empowerment, and progress within the Somali-American community.
