RUH Honors Somali American Students with Scholarships at Academic Pathway 2026 in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Somali American high school graduates were recognized for their academic achievements during the Academic Pathway 2026 event, held Sunday evening at the Columbus Airport Marriott. The annual program brought together Somali American students, families, educators, and community leaders to celebrate education and encourage the next generation of scholars.

Organized by Ruh (Reviving the Ummah’s Heritage) in partnership with The Ohio State University Somali Student Association (SSA), the event featured scholarship presentations, a community resource fair, a panel discussion with Somali American professionals, sponsor recognition, and an awards ceremony honoring outstanding graduates.

Several Somali American students were awarded scholarships to help support their higher education as they prepare to attend colleges and universities across the United States. Organizers said the scholarships are intended to recognize academic excellence while encouraging students to continue pursuing their educational and professional goals.

Students also received complimentary professional headshots to assist with college applications, LinkedIn profiles, resumes, internships, and future career opportunities.

During the panel discussion, accomplished Somali American professionals from various fields shared their educational journeys, reflected on the challenges they overcame, and offered practical advice to graduates preparing for college and their future careers. Panelists encouraged students to remain committed to education, leadership, and community service.

The resource fair connected attendees with colleges, universities, scholarship providers, nonprofit organizations, and community resources, giving Somali American students and their families access to valuable information about higher education, financial aid, career planning, and mentorship opportunities.

Ruh, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through education, leadership development, and civic engagement, organizes the annual event to promote academic excellence and invest in the future of Somali American youth.

Community members praised the program for recognizing student achievement while fostering a culture that values education, mentorship, and service. Many described the event as an important investment in the next generation of Somali American leaders.

The event concluded with the presentation of scholarships and awards, celebrating the accomplishments of Somali American graduates as they begin the next chapter of their educational journey.
